A few years ago, betting on solar energy and solar panels could become a bureaucratic odyssey. With the so-called sun tax and hundreds of legal obstacles, only a few adventurers decided to invest in the energy of the future. However, in recent years this situation has changed dramatically.
Solar energy: the future of our country
Spain is, along with Portugal, the country in Europe that has the most hours of sunshine per year, with more than 2,500 hours a year. This means that, unlike Northern Europe, in Spain we enjoy more than 8 hours of sunshine a day, a very hopeful situation for those who are committed to renewable energy.
Despite this, during 2019 Germany produced five times more solar energy than our country. How is it possible? The answer lies in the investment that the German country has made against the Spanish. Among others, the controversial tax on the sun, which came into force in 2015 and which fortunately was eliminated in 2018, was a tax for all those who bet on self-consumption and solar panels. To this has been added that the Spanish State has not made the same investments in renewable energy, although it is true that this trend is beginning to change thanks to the opportunities that experts predict for our country.
Self-consumption at home
At present, self-consumption is a reality in Spain. In the commitment to this type of consumption, solar energy is presented as the most optimal energy. On the one hand, it is easy to achieve, since any space has the conditions that allow its installation (isolated land, roofs of homes …). On the other, it is a clean and inexhaustible energy, since it uses the radiation emitted by the sun itself to produce energy.
Betting on self-consumption has many advantages. Not only is the planet being helped in the fight against climate change. It also means long-term economic savings, since we stop depending on large energy companies. In fact, it is possible to sell the unused energy so that other households can benefit from our plates.
Many companies install solar panels in our country. First of all, the important thing is to hire a trusted company, since, although we will obtain the plates quickly and easily, it is a process that requires a preliminary study that only professionals will know how to develop. From there, they recommend the appropriate self-consumption installation, either connected to the electricity grid (which we can use in some cases) or disconnected from it. In fact, some companies, such as SotySolar, offer various installation fees, with their own plates or payment for the simple use of them.
Thus, the commitment to renewable energy carries multiple personal and social benefits. However, for this, it is necessary to have specialized and experienced companies, since acquiring solar panels implies the development of a preliminary study and their subsequent conservation, which can exceed 50 years if the panels have the necessary cleaning and maintenance.
